Non-Members are always welcome

Are you interested in joining SWE Mid-Michigan?

Anyone is always welcome to join our Mid-Michigan SWE chapter, even as a non-member. Although non-members are ineligible for some of the benefits listed above, we still need your help to make a difference. If you’re looking to get more involved in your community, have a passion for supporting women in STEM and want to make an impact in others’ lives, consider joining SWE Mid-Michigan. There are very important roles which need your support.

Chair Elections

Looking to run for Office?

There are many benefits to becoming a SWE member, including access e-learning courses through the Advance Learning Center, discounted event registration, networking opportunities (including mentorship programs), SWE Career Center access, and more.  You also become eligible to run for elected positions in SWE and apply for certain awards. Some companies may offer paid annual membership. For more details, see the SWE website – SWE Membership Types & Benefits – Society of Women Engineers.  Be sure to add Mid-Michigan SWE as your affiliate section when you sign up!

How to Become a National Member

  1. Go to http://societyofwomenengineers.swe.org/ and click on “Membership”.
  2. Click on “Types and Benefits” to see different kinds of memberships available and other information throughout the page. These include:
    • Standard professional membership for $100 annual fee
    • Joint membership options with other minority organizations
    • Discounts for recent grads and those who are retired or may be unemployed.
  3. After you determine which group you fall into, select “Join/Renew”.
    • The most common membership type is Professional
    • Anyone with a degree in an engineering or similar field qualifies.
  4. This will open another window and click on “Become a Member (Non-member)”.  
    • From then on, you will be asked for your personal information, follow prompts to create your account.
  5. Select your membership and proceed to Checkout
    • There is a one-time processing fee of $20 for all new members.

NOTE: Processing may take a little time, but you will typically be notified by email or mail with your membership number, and you will start to receive the occasional emails from National SWE announcing programs available to members.
